Listen

Close your ears

Inhale, exhale

Now open them

And listen,

To the chirps of a couple of birds

Dancing lovely in a wild jungle

A magical song they’re singing

A duet of two divas, in between flapping wings

Now close your ears again

Inhale, exhale

Open them slowly

And listen,

To the cries of thousands of people

When they realized they lost their homes

Scavenging through ruins, looking for hopes

All in vain, everything’s annihilated

Now close your ears again

Inhale, exhale

Open them, and smile

Because listen,

There are seagulls flying above the sails

of an abandoned ship and they create

creaks on its wooden body

Waves crashing against the reefs

Close your ears

Inhale, exhale

Now open them

And listen,

To huge thunders and the brutal currents

Competing against each other

To take lives and awaken the monsters

down below the ship, until they resurface

For the last time,

Close your ears

Inhale, exhale

Now open them,

And listen,

To the emptiness around you

Surrounding you, trapping you

The pressure, it’s hurting you

Nothing, just nothing, only gloom
